Blueprinted Sky

The recesses you create
hollowed out like a flutemaker would
forces me to listen
as I shudder through your echoes
Standing aside and above
your structure connects
land locked to land mass
Flowing individual blood vessels at 50mph
keeping you upright as I bow my head
and there I stand
beneath your roar
packed into the empty space
slipformed without scaffold
I dare not look up at your majesty
towering
industrial
against the blueprinted sky

  1. this poem gave me a shudder, I can almost feel the fear of adrenalin pumping at 50mph...breathtaking.

  2. Thanks. It was really difficult to sum up my fear of standing under a bridge.
