Tables touch those pages of a book
decorated voices not verbs
Friends became strangers
school conscription ended
now we are seated
in pocketed pairs
Age has taken us
and shaken us
up
drawn lines on our faces
enhancing folds that corrupt
The comfort of security
shadows waistline
and obscurity
giving the appearance
of a quarried keyhole
Presenting a facebook facade
we've peeked and poked
our way through
twenty years
without knowing
never mind
speaking
to
I've never had any luck re-uniting with friends, but it always hurts when it doesn't work out.
ReplyDeleteI think status envy has a big factor, how much they've achieved in comparison, which is a reflection on maybe what you could have achieved.. I know you shouldn't judge yourself against others, but society sets you up like that by telling you you're all equal. As George Orwell said.. "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others"
